Palastrables is a game designed to explore the discrimination in early language development of children with typical development and Down syndrome.
It is a simple game that uses a series of elements that seek to measure knowledge of the name, interjections, animal sounds and visual recognition thereof.
The interaction with the game it's through the mechanic of drag and drop objects on the screen. It consists of two exercises with different level of difficulty.
This is the easiest level, it presents the challenge of recognizing an animal and place it on the corresponding silhouette. A number of animals is presented and the child must discriminate to find the animal that corresponds the silhouette. As feedback, the name of the animal and the sound is presented. Also it recognize the success in the exercise. Gradually increase the difficulty level by increasing the number of animals to recognize.
Being the most complex level, it presents the challenge of recognizing an animal and place the letters of his name correctly. A series of letters it's presented and the child must discriminate to find which corresponds to the animal. As feedback, the name of the animal and the sound is presented. Also it recognize the success in the exercise. Gradually increase the difficulty level by increasing the number of letters to recognize in a word.
Palastrables reinforces the use of fine motor and spatial skills and assist in the development of language and short-term memory, an intuitive and enjoyable way. These features make it a great tool for children with Down syndrome, as it implements its inherent skills and helps strengthen their shortcomings.
The game doesn't require any aditional hardware because it is played with mouse.
